^top

The Commission is committed to the objectives and strategies outlined in our Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) which is for the period 2007-2012.

Following public consultation and liaison with the Disability Services Commission the Commission has formulated a DAIP that recognises the important role of people with disabilities in our society and encourages us to review and adapt our business practices and services to better service the needs of these people and of all electors. Our ability to achieve the strategies as outlined against the six desired core outcomes will be monitored and reported on annually to the Disability Services Commission and in our Annual Report.

We welcome feedback on our DAIP from interested groups or individuals in the community. The feedback form is available within our DAIP or all relevant contact details for feedback can be found through the feedback tab on our website.

The Commission is presently committed to achieving the following outcomes:

Outcome 1. Existing services are adapted to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
Outcome 2. Access to facilities and buildings used is improved.
Outcome 3. Information about services and facilities is provided in  formats that enhance the communication needs of people with disabilities.
Outcome 4. Advice and services are delivered by staff who are aware of and understand the needs of people with disabilities.
Outcome 5. Grievance mechanisms provide an opportunity for people with disabilities to communicate with the Commission and address their concerns.
Outcome 6. Opportunities are provided for people with disabilities to participate in public consultations and decision making processes
