In 1999 we celebrated the Centenary of Women's Suffrage in Western Australia. It is important to remember that many women around the world today are still denied the right to vote. Women in Australia have the right to vote - this was not always the case. Below are the dates women's suffrage was granted for a number of countries in the world. In all of these countries women have made enormous contributions. Voting rights are an important human right, and a good indication of how a country values its citizens. Australian democracy grants the right to vote to all of its citizens.
