2009 Willagee By-election Early Voting

Electors who will be unable to attend a polling place on polling day Saturday 28th November have the option of either a postal vote or casting an early vote in-person.

Primarily, postal voting and early in-person voting is available for electors who will be out of the District of Willagee or unable to attend a district polling place on election day because of emergency duty or employment; membership of a religious order or beliefs which precludes attendance at a polling place or voting on polling day; serious illness or infirmity; caring for someone with a serious illness or infirmity; or if they are approaching maternity.

Applications for an early vote by post are open and application forms can be obtained from any post office in the Willagee electoral district, the West Australian Electoral Commission’s offices on the 2nd Floor, 111 St George’s Terrace, Perth or downloaded from this website.

Applications close at 6.00pm on Thursday 26th November – but electors requiring a postal vote should apply now, as it can take up to two weeks for the application forms and ballot papers to go back and forth in the post.

Once ballot papers are received they must be completed and mailed to the Commission, postmarked prior to 6.00pm on polling day, and arrive before 9.00am on Thursday 3rd December.

Those electors wishing to cast an early vote in-person can do so at the West Australian Electoral Commission’s offices on the 2nd Floor, 111 St George’s Terrace, Perth, at Australian Electoral Commission offices at Booragoon (Unit 2, Lower Ground Floor, Gateway Building, Andrea Lane) or Spearwood (3/218 Rockingham Road), the Fremantle Courthouse (8 Holdsworth Street, Fremantle) and most magistrates’ courts throughout the State.

Early voting in-person is also available at the electoral commission offices in all Australian state and territory capitals, and in London.

Full details of all locations are available on this website or by calling the WAEC information line on (08) 9214 7240.
