Do you believe that the Western Australian community would benefit if trading hours in the Perth Metropolitan Area were extended to allow general retail shops to trade until 9 pm Monday to Friday?

Question 2

Do you believe that the Western Australian community would benefit if trading hours in the Perth Metropolitan Area were extended to allow general retail shops to trade for 6 hours on Sunday?

How do you complete the referendum ballot paper?

The referendum ballot paper for this referendum will be green and the two questions on the single ballot paper must be completed with the word 'YES' or 'NO' written in the space provided under each question.

How are the votes counted?

Counting is a simple process, because only a YES or NO is recorded. The result of the referendum is usually known soon after polling closes.

How many votes are required to change the legislation?

The majority of votes, either yes or no, generally gives the government an indication of the community's view on this issue. Any amendment to legislation thereafter is a matter for the Government.

Do I have to vote in the referendum?

Yes, if you are correctly enrolled to vote, you are obliged to vote. The same rules apply if you are voting in an election or a referendum.
