Electors with Disabilities

Enrolment

Don't let your disability stop you from having your say.

All eligible citizens must enrol to vote.  To enrol, or change any of your enrolment details, you need to complete your Electoral Enrolment form.  Download an Application for Electoral Enrolment form (PDF, 178.85 kB).

Enrolment forms are also available from any post office, the Western Australian Electoral Commission office, and all Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) offices.

Multiple Format Information

If you require information in alternate formats please contact us to discuss your needs.

Mobile Polling

Mobile polling teams visit many hospitals and special institutions in the week before polling day to allow the residents the opportunity to vote without having to leave the premises.

The date and time that mobile polling will take place will be advertised at the venue.

Drive-in Polling Places

Simply drive to a drive-in polling place on polling day.  A Polling Place Officer will bring ballot papers to you in your car. Locations will be advertised on our website and in The West Australian.

Accessible Parking Bays

Wheelchair accessible polling places are advertised in The West Australian on polling day and on the Western Australian Electoral Commission's website.

Vision Impairment

For electors with vision impairment, video magnifiers can increase the image size of the ballot paper.

Video magnifiers will be available at some early voting venues, and at some polling places across the State on polling day.  Locations will be advertised on polling day in The West Australian and on our website.

Medically Unable to Vote

An elector's name can be removed from the State electoral roll if their general practitioner completes a Medical Certificate removal form.

Contact our Enrolment Group by post, fax or phone, or visit our office, to obtain assistance with this process.

Applying to Receive an Early Voting Package

If you are an elector who is seriously ill or infirm and can't easily attend a polling place, or you are caring for such an elector, you can apply to become a general early voter (GEV).

A voting package will then be sent to you each time a State general election is held.

Download a General Early Voter Application Form (PDF, 103.4 kB).  Application forms are available from the office of the Western Australian Electoral Commission, or your local Australian Electoral Commission divisional office.

Hearing Impairment

A Telephone Typewriter Service (TTY) is available to assist electors with hearing impairment. Call (08) 9214 0487.

Additional Special Services

At all polling places electoral officers, if requested, can provide:

An elector who requires help to mark their ballot paper may now also choose to get help from any person (other than a candidate).
